Professional Goals Statement

As an educator I have a sincere committment to improving the state of education in America in general and my own people in particular. As a student in a large public school district, my K-12 experience was very depressing. I graduated high school neer the bottom of my class of 300. It was this siduation that lead me to become a teacher. I wanted to be a better teacher than those who had let me down in my educational experience.

As a student teacher in my undergraduate degree program I quickly became aware of the power of technology to motivate and inspire the students (like I was) who were at risk of failing. It was this realization that led me to pursue a Master's in OLIT. My goal is to use my degree to improve the learning experiences of both students and teachers through the integration of technology in the curriculum. By giving teachers positive technology experiences through professional development and classroom learning I hope to motivate them to integrate technology in their own classrooms.
